Well I wonder if there is just no way that Apple can stop him. If it doesn't bear any technology from Apple and he isn't creating a truly competing product then I am not totally surprised.

True but Apple can be weird about certain things. Though they seem to give him more latitiude than anyone else at Apple.

^ Yeah they can but I would bet he has a contract and if that contract doesn't expressly prohibit him from designing something that doesn't compete or use the same tech and it doesn't prevent him from designing on the side at all then there's little they can do about it. I don't see them offing Ive anytime soon.

On the other hand, remember this is merely a design by Ive; the technology will always be Leica.

It's a one-off camera (as in - one camera only) for charity. Absolutely no threat to Apple. I'm sure Ive merely had to say it was important to him. One of the perks of being a big wig at Apple, I'm pretty sure, is that you get to do what you want. You've already shown that you are committed to the firm.

My question is... which charity? He must be inundated with requests to do things for a good cause .... so which one got his attention?
