Or don't send an e-mail at all. Next time you want to know what the guy went through, just look it up on something called the Internet. You're already using it :

Jonathan Ive was born in Chingford, London. He was raised by his teacher father and attended Chingford Foundation School; he went on to attend Walton High School in Staffordshire then studied Industrial Design at Northumbria University (Newcastle Polytechnic at the time).

He may suggest the OP do something different (while still staying in that field). Just because he is successful doesn't mean that's the way you should do it. I have had many successful guys tell me, "Don't do what I did".

Is there any substantial reporting out there, ferreting out the facts about -- how much influence does Mr. Ive actually have? Or does Jobs closely clutch every little design decision to himself?

It's all too easy to guess about this. Guessing, or trying to deep parsing of the shallow reporting widely available on this, does not interest me. Does anyone out there have any actual INFO on this?

One suspects that Ives must deserve credit for talking Jobs into buying a CNC milling machine for in-house experimentation, in Apple's little design building.

Someday maybe we'll find out... Was Ive hired because he was the best designer Apple could find? Or, because he ruffled Emporor Job's ego feathers, the least of all the candidates?

Is Ive pushing Jobs to update those Macs that have fallen the farthest behind?
