I am very excited to see this app on the iPad. I use my iPad mini A17and Apple Notes as my daily journal. I hand write my entries with my Apple Pencil Pro as I find handwriting to be far more relaxing and cathartic.

Will the journal app on iPadOS 26 allow for handwritten entries?

The Journal app is available for me too on the beta. I have it running on my iPad Pro 11 m4 and it’s working very smoothly, including the handwriting option. I’m glad they finally added this!

Does the current app version offer any ruled paper templates? Also, is the writing experience with the pencil same to that of Apple Notes?

There are no ruled paper templates that I can find at least, but I was thinking there should be. I’ll send that in as feedback. Otherwise yes it does feel pretty much the same as writing in the notes app.

I just started using the Journal app on my iPhone as I’m trying to get myself used to the app for September to use on my iPad. I still have Day One that I haven’t used as much as I used to. I would love to convert over to the Journal app exclusively.

you mean you can scribble and what you have written is turned in editable text? what iPad model do you use?

Can confirm Journal is working in iPadOS. I'm super excited to see it come to macOS, because that's where I would do my journalling, and where I do the majority of my writing. I was able to draw and handwrite in the entry but couldn't see a button for Scribble, but I don't see why that feature wouldn't work when it works elsewhere in the OS. I'm running it on an iPad 8 for reference.

I’m overly excited for Journal to come to the iPad since I have a Brydge keyboard and use my iPad Pro as my laptop replacement. I primarily use my iPad for 99% of my computing needs, and only use my laptop to transfer ringtones to my iPhone or do a dfu restore.

It's possible using Shortcuts and the Day One JSON export file but I'm not advanced/technical enough to build the Shortcut.

I have over 3000 entries in Day One and want them in Journal.app now it's cross platform.

If anyone on here could build the Shortcut, I would happily pay a small amount for it.
