On a MacBook Pro m2 pro 16” does anyone know why some web sites judder a lot while scrolling on the trackpad, it’s quite intense at first.

if you scroll using the up down keys it’s fine.

hopefully a video is attached to demonstrate it.

this is using safari.

it even does it when scrolling the widgets as well.

thanks.

have you turned on 120hz scrolling? By default safari is at 60hz, but you can make it use the full 120hz using this process:
(This is for Sonoma btw) Safari > Settings > turn on show features for web developers, then go to feature flags > turn off prefer page updates near 60fps
This may fix your problems.

sorry for the late reply, thanks for the suggestion, yes i have pro motion enabled by default, i just tried this, its called "prefer page rendering updates near 60fps" but i'm afraid it made no difference, i did fully close safari as well. i did wonder if it was frame rate related, i.e. 120 vs 60fps. running the latest Somona 14.

As an aside, I get this when scrolling back to the top or left hand side on Excel pages using a trackpad.
It's as if the cursor bounces back half a cell.

yeh it does seem to relate to the track pad i believe as when using the up down arrows on the keyboard no such issue.

Also doesn't happen with a mouse. I swapped trackpads and it's still there. Haven't yet been able to test it with a different installation of Excel. Does this happen with an integral trackpad as mine is/are free standing ?

Yeh my queries relate to using the integral trackpad only.
