Does anyone else have an occasional issue with new tabs exhibiting odd behaviour? I sometimes open a new tab and it shrinks itself alongside the pinned tabs, despite it NOT being pinned. It still tries to show the full tab name. If I close the problem tab, any tab that was opened to the right suffers the same fate.
In this screenshot, the first tab (with the 'P' favicon) is pinned. The second tab ('Plex') is newly-opened and not pinned. The third tab ('Wordle') was already existent.
When this happens, the only way to fix this is to close the tabs and CMD-Z to reopen them. I should mention that this is an old issue, persisting across different versions of Mac OS. I'd given up on Safari a couple of years ago due to this issue but thought I'd try it out again under Sonoma. I reported this to Apple a long time ago but I guess they haven't bothered fixing it.
