I got Jump Destop, because many people seemed to like it. However, unfortunately, it is absolute garbage in *my* experience (your’s may be different!).

I have: iPad Air 3 and I’m trying to control my late 2009 iMac (with High Sierra). It connects OK, and I can access my iMac, it’s just that using it is painful and often impossible. I like to use my Apple Pencil I, but while it worked a couple of times, it stopped working completely, I don’t know why. That leaves using my fingers. Fine, whatever. Problem is - I can often select stuff, but then it won’t DO anything - tapping repeatedly does nothing. So I can’t actually do much. It’s completely unpredictable as to when it will open something, and when it won’t. I’m sick of it.

So. Is there a better app with which I can control my iMac from my iPad? Something that‘s RELIABLE, and not super finicky like the garbage Jump? I’ll gladly pay!

Any recommendations for something better? TIA!

You can try Spashtop and TeamViewer but I have found Jump to be superior to both but I'm connecting to Win10 devices, where it works great for me.

You can try Screens but Jump really has been superior in my experience.

Your desktop is quite old and that could play into some of your issues. I got rid of a maxed out (at the time) 2009 iMac last year and to say it was sluggish at the end would be an understatement.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! Yes, my iMac is getting on in years, although it was in fact top of the line maxed out model when I bought it. I don't mind buying a new one - in fact, I'd like to. The problem is, that I don't like what I see in the new iMacs - it would be nice to buy an iMac that's had a decent re-design (f.ex. lose the "chin"), and had some real improvements - standard SSD, faster and running cooler and so on. The current iMacs strike me as "old technology".

Anyhow, I don't know if my iMac being old is the issue - for most of almost anything else it works perfectly fine. YMMV.
