Jumping ship, pricing outright - Question?

Ok, so I've decided that I'm jumping ship to Android, Dah Dah Dah. I'm looking at getting either the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X, mostly likely the S3, and i'll be purchasing it outright. So currently both phones are averaging around $700 in Aus. My question, how long does it take for the prices to go down to the $500 mark on average? And how often do they go on sale for the Christmas sales, black Friday and so on, and how much? Thanks.

I imagine the S3 would have dropped some since iPhone 5 release and with a new One X+ coming out soon, the original should be dropping some too.
