That article doesn't tell us anything we didn't know. If Steve says anything about the iPhone release date on June 11, he'll say that it will come out in two weeks.

Apple said "late June"; they're rarely that specific, so you can count on it coming out after June 15, and you shouldn't hope for it before June 30.

well just two days ago we were talking about a June 20th date. i think that this article reinforces that the 11th is more likely to have the iPhone available for order. like the article says you are not just going to be able to walk into an apple store on the 11th and buy one but you will be able to at least order it for when it does ship. it might not tell you anything new but i think that it strengthens June 11th for possible order.

11th of June it is, that's my birthday as well and if I was in the states I know what I'd be buying ;)

All I know is, whatever the date is...Apple is going to be shaking up the industry. I got my helmet on...I'm ready for shaking.

Hmmm...

So orders begin being taken on the 11th, followed by SJ commenting on it at his WWDC keynote the next morning on Tuesday the 12th (has Apple ever released anything on a Tuesday? :D ):

"In only 24 hours, we have sold eleventy billion iPhones..."

Of course, availability during the week of WWDC would be cool also because of the amount of Father's Day iPhones that will be purchased for the following Sunday, the 17th.

That's something to think about.

"Happy Fathers Day Dad! Here's an invoice for an iPhone".

:p ;) :)

Yes please!!!

I'd love 11th of June...I'd be so happy if Apple was early on the time frame for launch. But know I'm try to convince myself later June, like the 20th.

Either way I'm happy for the day to be so close!

..nevermind the WWDC keynote is on a Monday, the 11th.

i for one am NOT gonna be happy if the iPhone's gonna be available the week im gonna be in sf for wwdc :(

hmmm, credit cards in my wallet, hi! :p

I don't believe it would be a smart move to release the iPhone at the start of WWDC. There is a lot of hype around that dang phone. Apple would not want to harm any WWDC releases with the iPhone.

Personally I am hoping for late June as that would make it easier for me to get to an AT&T or Apple store to get my phone.

i tend to agree with this. i think apple will want to preserve this as a developer-focused event, and not "dilute" it with any announcements that are really more consumer-related. unless, that is, they *have* decided to open up the iphone to external development and are going to release a developer's kit for it. but that's the only scenario i can think of where they will announce something related to the iphone at wwdc, and that's unlikely given everything we've heard to date...

I think it would be much cooler if all WWDC attendees received iPhones. :D

spoken like someone who is going to attend wwdc! :p

could you imagine what would happen to wwdc attendance if they did give iphones to attendees? once that got out, everyone and their mother would pretend to be a developer, myself included. :D

damn straight! :D

but it would be too late for all those people because apple wouldn't do it again. so instead of having all those people pretend to be devs, all the devs attending WWDC would be attacked by huge groups of people trying to steal the iPhone from them. ;)

I will believe it when I see it. My guess is it will be classic apple and the will say it will be released on June 11th but reality is it is nothing more than a paper launch because it will be near impossible to get and take for ever because apple is rather piss poor in that department.

Checked two Cingular stores - one said "yes, we're getting the iPhone at this location, but we don't know when" and said they aren't doing a waiting list. Store #2 said they aren't getting the iPhone and all Cingular stores have been instructed to delete any waiting lists and will be enforcing first come, first served.
