Is Is anyone else getting junk mail notifications lately? There’s never used to happen. And I haven’t changed anything.

What do you mean?
It’s the banner that comes from the top letting me know about new mail. For some reason, I’m getting them for my junk folder instead of just my regular inbox. It definitely seems like a bug...unless...oh wow. I bet it’s because I added it to my top mailboxes for convenience. I’ll update the thread, but that’s probably it. Lol.

Basic great guy: I don’t get the little red number on the stock mail app.

Ahah I see. No I don’t get that and I’ve got both my junk mail boxes in the main top list too.

It’s fairly certain to be caused by your adding Junk to top, even if it’s not a consistent result. Flagging as junk happens before the server lets a message pass to your account, and iOS Mail doesn’t normally even fetch junk folder message content until you open the folder.

Yeah it’s really weird I don’t know why it started doing that but it’s not a big deal because I don’t check junk very often.

Yeah you’re right for some reason it started in iOS 14 even though I’ve had junk to the left or rather as an added mailbox.

I don’t know if it’s related, but when I delete or read new emails I sometimes notice I still have notification for 1 new message. I don’t see it in the inbox though. The only way to bring it up is to filter by unread and then I can find it. The message I deleted just now was a spam email from 2019. Not sure if it’s a bug in the app or the sender is faking the sent date?

Bummer. Sometimes weird stuff happens to me, like newsletters suddenly going into my junk folder.
