Just a Few Buying Questions

Hi

I am planning on buying either a MacBook Pro, or a new iBook/MacBook when it comes out. I don't need it right away, so that is the only reason i am thinking of waiting for a new iBook/MacBook. I am going to buy a 20" display and use a wireless keyboard and mouse, to have a desktop/portable. I just have a few questions...

1) Will I be able to keep the MacBook Pro/new iBook/MacBook's lid closed while using it, so I could keep it under my desk instead of having to reach under the desk to open the lid?
2)I could use mirroring on the MacBook Pro, but not the new iBook/MacBook, right??

Macbooks yes, current ibooks no, incoming macbooks, who knows

Screen spanning (extending your desktop) and mirroring is supported with the mbp, but only mirroring with the ibook, again, we can only guess about the macbook

One other question

I am definately going for a 2.16GHz MBP with a 20/23" diplay, but I have one more thing to decide...

I want to keep my MBP cool, and i want a stand-type-thing for it. But Should I get a Griffin iCurve or a Road Tools PodiumPad???

The I would be on edge all the time with the iCurve, not knowing if my MBP will fall, but the iCurve provides much more extra space than the PodiumPad.

Anyone have an iCurve or PodiumPad?? I could use some advice!

i have the icurve and i find it useful when you are typing on the laptop screen with an external mouse/keyboard. it will not fall off though. It has special grips. Don't have the podiumpad though.

my point, don't get the icurve if you are using an external monitor, but get it if you are using built in monitor with external mouse/keyboard.

Hacks exist to enable screen spanning on the iBooks. It's not advised, though, because of heat buildup.

is this the same reason is is not enabled by default on the iMacs?



Whatever you are getting, isn't is best to match the external LCD's recommended resolution to that of the notebook/iMac? I have not played with two displays at different resolutions. When I plugged my iMac video adapter in, my iMac display went straight to an ugly 800x600
