Just a thought on the next MBA (processor)

Anyone who as any knowledge of apple products expects the next MBA to use lv/ulv sandy bridge processors. That would make the most sense, considering that is what the new MBPs have. But then I began thinking (sometimes a bad thing). We all know apple is closing the gap between ios and osX, not only with operating systems, but also hardware. I feel that there is a slight possibility that maybe in the next air, apple may use a proprietary chip (beefed A5, A6, etc....). The only thing it wouldn't be able to do is run windows (at this time). Can anyone else see apple ditching intel in the next airs? Thoughts?

Don't think so. It would not only be incompatible with Windows but also with all Mac OS apps out there. I don't see them doing another major transition (like PowerPC->Intel) just for the sake of one laptop model.

They'll need some kind of Rosetta system to make sure the old-style apps would run during the transition phase and I'm sure that would totally crawl because ARM is a RISC processor, so almost every instruction would require several ARM instructions after translation.

I could imagine them including an A5 chip next to the intel to run in the background though, while it's in sleep mode. That chip could keep the mailbox updated and receive notifications through a 3G module, just like on the iPad. But that's just my dream, don't think it will happen

Then my Air will be worth 3 times as much as it is now! A lot of Windows users like the looks of Air. Thanks to Bootcamp Apple got a bigger marketshare in the pc world.
