First post but long time viewer and even LONGER Windows user.

PC & Windows user since they were invented. Never used a Mac except in an Apple store.

A couple of quick questions:

1. Any benefits if I order Applecare now?

2. I already have a CrucialSSD300 128gb SSD drive which is in my Asus G71v Windows 7x64 laptop. Just discovered it is 6GBs-laptop only supports 3GBs. Would I see much difference if I went for one of the latest OCZ or OWC 128gb drives or should I just transfer the current SSD to the Mac Mini?

I am also upgrading to 8gb using Crucial RAM.

I currently use Virtualbox so I will probably use that to run Windows 7 until I am mac aware:)

I already downloaded some free mac software.....:)

Thanks for any thoughts

1. There are no benefits. I wouldn't get it ever. It will probably be your loss to purchase it, and if something catastrophic does happen just use it as an opportunity to upgrade.

2. The C300 is a good drive. I don't believe the other drives have any significant advantage.

I've bought Applecare Much cheaper thru ebay. It's nice to have for 3 years, tho I have rarely had hardware problems with the 3 or 4 minis I've had. I use it for tech support.
and sorry to hear about your time with win. I've never missed leaving that world, ever.

WOW thanks for the fast response.

Yeah I'm pretty careful with computers and 'never' had many problems other than self inflicted so I will pass on the Applecare meantime....

Yes again as I suspected about the C300

Thanks again

get the server cheaper on amazon, bhphoto or macconnection, if price matters. no tax and discounted.

Lol yeah I did tech support for windows before I retired.... BUT I DO like Windows 7.

Number 3 son has been at me for years to go the Mac route. I can resist no longer and am looking forward to the change. He will get the job of swapping the SSD for me.:)

Thanks again

Sorry I should have said - I am in the UK so not so many cheap options.

Thanks again

Ordered standard Mac Mini Server plus Magic Trackpad.

Arriving 7th September plus Crucial 8gb RAM (2 x 4gb).

Thanks for all your help.

No doubt I will return when I start using it. :)
