The Hill
Yes, my iPod Nano was just stolen from my car.:mad: Car was parked in my driveway in a nice residential neighborhood. I'm usually pretty "anal" about locking my car but missed it that night. Left for work at 0530 and turned on my radio. It defaults to function last used which was my iPod yet it came up with tuner. So, I cycled through and couldn't find the iPod. Well, the iPod is in the center armrest so I reached in to see what the problem was. No iPod, just connecting wire. Talk about mad. The Nano was a gift from my kids and that makes me sad. Interesting, my kids purchased the Nano from the Apple on-line store and had my name laser engraved on the back so if it's ever found shouldn't be a problem proving it's mine. I'm headed off to the police station and wanted to get the serial number and used this to find it. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1459#one

Kind of funny that they didn't take my stereo, Pioneer FH-P800BT, as it's a bit more "pricey" than the Nano. Guess they just didn't have time. Don't expect to recover my Nano but there's a chance. I would love to be able to have a face to face with the thief and ask "why". Arrrrrrrgggggggh!

Sorry to hear of your loss. Its a good thing you made a police report. While remote, there is a chance you will get your ipod back.

Scum that break into cars should be shot on site.

thieves don't want to take the time taking out the radio - smash and grab just gets whatever is easy to pull out. Our town had a rash of people's GPS devices being stolen from their cars.

They take the iPod/GPS/whatever and sell it at a pawn shop for money for drugs.

I'm wondering if they didn't try to come back for my stereo. Last nite about 0030 my car alarm started going off. By the time I woke up and got out to the driveway the car alarm was off and nobody there. I really think that they came back but this time but the car was locked. When I made the police report today the officer said that kids are usually the culprit. They go along a block and just check cars to see if they are unlocked and if so go in and get whatever they find. Well have to wait and see. I miss my Nano so I'm looking at the new Nano's and Touch's. Just hope this doesn't happen to you. It's not so much the monetary loss but the feeling that someone out there has invaded your privacy and you don't know who they are but they certainly know who you are or at least where you live. Makes you wonder every time you see someone walking down your street....were you the one??
