So i recently bought the 12.9 inch ipad pro 13 days ago from best buy (13 day return policy). Was wondering you guys thought on whether or not it would be worth it to return tomorrow and then wait for it to be in store. Also not sure when best buy will be receiving stock themselves. The updates that i noticed didnt seem important to me at all and i love the current version, just would like some advice as to whether or not itd be worth it. I use it primarily for viewing televsion and no video editing or anything like that. Advice appreciated. thanks.

It’s worth it I think. Great new features. And the true tone screen makes it worth it alone I think.

As much of a hassle it is to return something and restart, the hardware updates alone are worth the effort. Depending upon which capacity you bought, you'll either get a storage bump for the same price or a price decrease by dropping down to the lesser capacity (that is still greater than the original 12.9 Pros)

If it's less than a $200 price difference I would return it and get the new one. But I'm one of those people who likes having the latest-and-greatest version. The real-world performance difference between the two is probably like the difference between the iPhone 6S and 7 (pretty small.) The Tru Tone display is what really appeals to me about the new 12.9" IPP.

I would absolutely return and get the updated one. Go through the minor hassle now to get something that's not already a year and a half old.

I ordered my 12.9" Pro (upgrading from my original 12.9" Pro) this afternoon and it's going to be delivered to me next week. That's not bad.

I'd return and get the new one. You'll get double the storage for starters, plus a six-core CPU.

How much did you pay? If you paid full MSRP, then absolutely, go ahead and return it.

If you received a huge discount, then I guess it depends on whether the improvements on the new models are worth the extra cost to you.

This is the right answer. Whether you keep it or not depends very much on how much you paid for it. If you didn't get ~$200 discount on it, I'd return it.

Seems the smart idea would be to return and get the new one. I paid full price fwiw. Also, I used American Express points at Best Buy and plan on doing the same for the new replacement. Does anyone know when this may be in Best Buy stores for me to be able to purchase my replacement since I cannot buy from Apple itself?

I would have thought it's absolutely worth it if you paid full price; primarily for the better screen and more storage. My own 12.9" doesn't lag (even on the ios11 beta), so the processor seems moot at the moment.

I just wouldn't want to be stuck in a scenario where bestbuy doesnt receive
Stock for quite a while and I'm without the iPad

I would also return it. For years I haven't been buying new Apple devices in the weeks before an event. Saves a lot of frustration.

Do y'all know how long if typically takes Best Buy to have stock of the newer iPad models? They are still nowhere to be found on the Web site.

The 2017 iPad (5th gen), it was in stores around one week after the Apple website had it available for order, iirc. Granted, it showed up on retailers websites same day.

Wonder if Apple didn't tell retailers in advance to minimize leaks. I dunno, seems like both carriers and retailers were caught off-guard this time around.

Might as well return it as the new iPads will be available next week so not like you have to wait long

You did say you're on the 13th day of the 14 day return policy (not 13 days). So today is your last day to send it back, so do so quickly
