In Australia, Melbourne.
On Monday 6th August 4pm ordered mac mini base model
Tuesday 7th it was shipped.
Waiting for arrival. (Wednesday 8th)
Hoping to GOD it is new one, however i suspect not.
PLEASE HELP
What should i do?
All that software and hardware upgrades for less money?
Be serious Please, this is a big investment for me, and I feel Apple has screwed me, as has the rumor that the mini would die.
I thought they'd kill it, so i ordered one. and now i lose out.
WHAT CAN I DO???
Please Help
I will update as soon as it arrives

They probably either shipped the new one or will exchange it for a new one if you ask.

Didnt mean to offend you, just needed some attention LOL
I hope it's the new one. will update

So there is no official APPLE STORE in Australia yet, do i try a reseller?

No dont go to a reseller. CALL Apple, The Austrailian one or whatever, ask them to exchange it if it's not the new one. They will send you a box and you just stick it right in it and send it back and they will send you a new one.

Could someone point out to me what's new with the Mini? I seriously don't see any changes in the specs. Is it just that 1 GB is standard now and the HDs are a little bigger? Big whoop.

Core2Duo 1.83Ghz vs CoreDuo 1.67Ghz
1Gb vs 512mb
80GB vs 60GB
AU$849 vs AU$949
ilife08 vs ilife 06

Pretty substantial to me! and my client!

I Hope so.
And Now I have to come up with a way of explaining this to my client.
I'm positive he won't mind waiting though.
Also, what's the go with returns from Apple, what if he changes his mind??
(He might want the imac!!)
Do Apple do returns?

log in to your store account and click on order details and then print invoice and it will bring up a window with your invoice. Check what model number it says and it should also bring up your serial number check that on apple's website and see what model it says.

http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

Also type the serial number in there and it will tell you the build week and such. If you don't feel comfortable typing the serial number in there read this post on tuaw about how to decipher the serial number:

http://www.tuaw.com/2005/04/14/when-was-your-mac-born/

essentially you are looking at the 3rd, 4th, and 5th letters the 3rd letter says what year it was produced and the 4th and 5th letters say what week it was produced. If it was produced this week then you are probably getting a new one, last week I don't know, the week before or earlier and its probably an old model.

can't you also just refuse the order when they try to deliver it to you hourse?

I ordered it through APPLE's online education store in Australia.
So I guess i bought it from my computer???

then obviously you'll need to get in touch with them, get a return authorized and send it back

ITS the old one

YAH APPLE
It got delivered at 8am
it is the old one!!!!!
I'm on the phone now, to india!!!!
But the tech support didn't know about the upgrades!!!!
On Hold waiting for the Shipping department.
Such a waste of time.
Apple should have shipped me the new one.
....

They're refunding. Not replacing. Takes 10 days to get my money back.
And now i gotta call my client

The update to the mini was rather minimal, I wouldn't worry about it. Your talking about 0.2G speed bump.

It may have only been 0.2GHz difference, but it's C2D vs the old CD and it has 1 Gig RAM and a larger HDD. Definitely worth the upgrade IMO ;)

In all honesty you can't really blame anyone but yourself. Apple shipped you what you bought, and if you changed your mind, thats on you. But it looks like you'll be getting the new mini, it just may take a bit longer than you hoped. Enjoy.
