Just bought a mac mini core duo

Alright, I just came back from the Apple store and bought a mac mini core duo on my lunch break. I think being able to install boot camp and XP made me jump so quickly so that I can get ride of my p4 1.7 ghz 512. I have a good lcd and mouse so that was the reason. I just got engaged and was thinking about bringing it back, but I wanted to by myself an engagement present Should I take it back or keep it?

Perhaps you should learn in future to make the decision to buy something before you actually buy it?

Anyway - keep it. They're neat little machines, I love mine and its an Core Solo.

I think you'll be delighted with your mini and Mac OSX.

You might consider buying Parallels Workstation 2.1 so you can run
OSX and Windows side by side.

Boot Camp is fantastic, but you must own a retail CD of XP Home or XP Pro with SP2. in order to install XP .

Keep in mind that Boot Camp is a limited free beta test program.

You will still need to upgrade to Leopard in order to have permanent dual boot capabilites.

Any work you do in XP should be backed-up.

You bought the right machine, but all the software is still going through
some growing pains.

You'll probably find that the majority of what you do on your computer
will be more enjoyable under OSX.

OSX also includes free demos of MS Office for Mac and iWork.
Text Editor is also included.

The only thing you might miss is MS Project.

I take it the Mac mini has the stock 512MB RAM in it? If so, only install and use Universal Binary applications if you can help it. The old PPC applications run, for the most part, under Rosetta, yes, but they eat a tonne of RAM when they do so.
