Hello everyone. I am new to the forum here as well as Apple products, other than ipods.
I am a veteran IT Professional with a long heritage of PCs. The only Apples I ever came in contact with over the years were to help out some friends having problems. This was back in the mid 90's with the units having a PC card in them as well. Honestly, I never in a million years envisioned myself ever buying a Mac. Don't get me wrong as I am not an Apple hater or anything, nor do I believe computers are a religion as some do. I love technology but can apppreciate all facets. My issues with Apple over the years were purely do to proprietary hardware / software. I always told people that I would possibly consider a Mac when they move to standard hardware / software. Of course I never expected they would but when they did and with the introduction of bootcamp, well I was starting to take notice. I was on the fence for the past 6 months or so but when I found the thread about the SR updated macbooks coming with the new LED panels and Nvidia graphics, well I had to have one. So I bit the bullet and ordered my very first ever Mac computer. My order still says not shipped yet but I am hoping it will soon. Reading about the specs and engineerin that went into these units, I am very excited to get it. I will of course be doing the bootcamp thing but will also be messing with the OSX to see what it is all about too.
Well since I am new to all of this Mac stuff, I thought I would ask you pros what tips you might have for my Mac OSX experience? I am not familiar with Mac software like burning apps, image editing, etc and heck I do not even know what the unit comes with. So if anyone has any advice on which are the best apps for each category in OSX, that could sure save me a bunch of trial and error time testing various programs out myself.
Thanks....
