Have been monitoring these forums since it was announced and finally took the plunge and picked up a new 27" imac i5 from the 14th street store in Manhattan.

I have to say, this machine is awesome. The screen is perfect, the design blows me away and it is faster than I could have hoped for. I'm in love!!

Maybe I'm lucky but I have no stuck pixels, no yellow tinge, no flashing screen and no noisy hard drive (I have the 1tb seagate).

I've been an apple guy for about 5 years and this machine really has hit the sweet spot.

That's what I have! Amazingly fast iMac. Really pleased too!

Congratulations.

I can't wait till mine ship!

I have been reading a lot of stuff on here I hope my screen isn't cracked:confused:

Congratulations! They really are amazing machines.

iMacs with no problems are pretty much the norm. iMacs with problems really are the minority.

I should make the 2-3 hour drive to either st Louis or Chicago and pick up an i5. I can't believe getting them from the online store takes nearly 3 weeks. I don't want to sound impatient, it's just that I don't have a computer at all right now. I wonder if they'll let me transfer my black Friday discount to a store... I know that answer is no.

3 weeks? The i5 is shipping within 7-10 days...

Bryan

That would be great, but my order page says it's not shipping until 14 days after the day I ordered it and it won't be delivered until 5 days after that. And that's with 2 day shipping. Of course the weekend takes up 2 days, but that still leaves 3 days.

Maybe the order page is an estimate and it will actually ship sooner.

It's not a bto by the way. Just a standard i5

It's also 7-10 business days which translates to a maximum of two weeks. I knew I'd have to wait this long. I just didn't realize they were still in stores. So since indont have a computer, it's making that drive look pretty tempting. I also have the day off today..

I guess you're right. I forgot to think about the "business days" in the 7-10 estimate. If Apple doesn't ship early, it could definitely take 3 weeks.

That stinks!

Well, if you do drive to a city that's 3 hours away, I'd definitely call the Apple store, speak to a manager and explain how far your driving, and then give them your credit card for the machine. I know the chances are small, but I would go through the roof if I got there and found out that the last one in stock sold 30 minutes ago.

Another option is to call Apple and see if they'll upgrade your shipping to overnight. All you have to do is let them know that you're disappointed with the wait. Just something to consider.

Either way, best of luck!
