1. Under what circumstances will Apple replace the bottomcase of MBP with a new one. (say with AppleCare or within warranty period)

2. Can I just ask for a bottomcase replacement and say I am willing to pay the bill? If I can, genius bar@local Apple store or remote Apple repair site, which is a better choice?

1- If it came faulty from fabric, or something goes wrong with the MBP and the bottom case is damaged. They won't replace it if you damage it, even if you do it accidentally.

2- Not sure, but I don't see why Apple would not permit something where they can win money from. And I would say it is the same if you do it a whatever place you want. Maybe I would trust more a local Apple Store.

And just out of curiosity, why do you ask these questions?:D

Well, when one of my friends came to check out my new MBP, he accidentally tried to lift the huge thing by merely holding the wristrest part, and that was when I heard a little crackin sound. And later on when I inspected very carefully I found that there's a little bump of the bottom case on the left. It is quite minor I should say and does not affect anything (only my feeling :( though) and if not careful enough you won't even notice it.

Btw, went to apple store today and confirmed from a genius (or it's just what he said) that such little bump will not affect warranty.
