Just did memory upgrade on C2D (current) Mac Mini

What a PITA that was! Two issues....

First - There is a power cable for the larger antenna (Airport Extreme?) that pulled off and didn't remember seeing any mention of it in the write-up I read (reattached to the 'Main' post, not 'auxiliary'). Since I don't use wireless no way of knowing if I connected to the right post.

Second - Even after two attempts, I could NOT get the back panel to line up without a slight gap on the power button side. It's roughly .25mm higher for some reason.

Everything else works fine and the Mini is now running my MBP's old memory (free upgrade woohoo!).

Also of note, the OE 1gig that I removed is a brand I've never heard of (don't have the chips in front of me) which I thought was a little odd.

I have a 2Gb kit from Crucial, that's going into my Mini, once I can find a couple of slim putty knives out here in Oman !

Thanks for your post! I was wondering if a Mac Mini with external display might be preferable to an iMac for the longevity of the components, but considering how difficult it was for you to upgrade the memory (and how tight that enclosure is in general), I'm not sure there would be much benefit to it.

Always check said connections before you pop the upper case back on, unless you like hearing popping the clips musical ..

I just upgraded my C2D mini too. I upped it to 4 gb even though I know only 3.2 is going to be utilized. It was a pain to find a putty knife thin enough, I ended up sanding one down till it finally fit. I felt like I was going to break it the whole time but in the end it all went well minus the few nicks on the bottom from the putty knife. Definitely can feel a difference going from 1 gb to 4 gb its worth the pain of installing.
