I don't know why nobody talks about this, it's like the single best non-stock app I would have on my phone, if I could only have one app download.
People say a lot of crap about how iPhone is "just a toy", well someone please show me an app like Workflow on Android, that doesn't require literally typing in scripts with a keyboard? Because you know, maybe I don't want to be typing up scripts on my phone but I still want some of those functionality?
I have heard of IFTTT but I really don't care about that stuff because it mainly does those social media stuff I don't do.
But Workflow, it's just perfect. It is the perfect balance between power (Assembly compiler, building native apps), and ease of use (download an app for it). It is made by Apple so you know it has the best performance, compatibility, reliability, design and attention to detail. This app alone makes any supposed iPhone "tax/premium/over-pricing" worth it, not that there even is one. What I'm trying to say is if there is an iPhone X for $599 but can't use Workflow. I will buy the $1000 version that can use Workflow, or at least a classic iPhone if I'm running tight.
I've been looking for an app that can resize images on iPhone, I have Affinity Photo on iPad which is obviously great but doesn't work on the iPhone. I even bought Pixelmator for it, but then I read somewhere about "workflow", didn't even pay much attention, I just thought oh the icon looks cool, I should take a look. I open AppStore, I see it's made by Apple, I was like WTF? I never knew about this, I downloaded it and I was BLOWN AWAY by what it can do.
Still, some minor complaints. It's kind of annoying that the workflows are two levels under the share menu, you have to tap share, tap workflows, and then tap a workflow, that's kind of slow.
Also the extension API in iOS probably has some kind of limitations on memory use or something, it doesn't work with larger images, makes the whole thing crash. If you resize images to more than about 2560 pixels you have to run the workflow within the workflow app or it will crash. If the images is more than ~8mb it won't open from share at all unless in the native gallery app.
I am sure an Android implementation will have fewer of these limitations. But nobody cares because Android doesn't have Apple to develop these kick-ass first party software. There is just Google, they do decent apps, and then a bunch of clowns doing crap bloatware.
