just downloaded 3.0 GM and have 1st gen iPhone edge- how do I install 3.0?

I hate to be someone to ask a question that I think has already been answered but I searched and could not find anything.

I just downloaded the golden master final 3.0 for 1st gen iphone from an iphone hacks forum- it is legit. How do I install it? I clicked restore while holding down the mac button, cose the ile, and now it is telling me that the firmware is incompatible. hiel name is:

iphone 3.0 1,1 7A341 Restore

Please help me.

Yeah, it's not legit. The only legit way is to get it from Apple.

File failed CRC check. re-downloaded it. File is out there...

I got 3.0 Gold Master on my original iPhone.

I opened iTunes 8.2 (Mac) and held the cmd & alt key while clicking on Restore.

You can then choose the firmware and the phone will restore to the new 3.0. You will lose any jailbreaks. If you wish to keep the jailbreaks then select Check for Updates instead of Restore.

Hi all,

Just one question (which is in fact already answered - but I need 100% confirmation).

I have a 1st gen. iPhone and want to load it up with the 3.0 GM OS. However, as my phone needs to be Jailbroken (otherwise the sim-card is locked) I need to be sure that this can be done (not later... but now) BEFORE I throw 3.0 on my phone...! Could you verify this?

And which version of iTunes are you guys running?
