it works better on the ipad then it does on my 3gs!

If I understand correctly, to activate Voice Control, you merely add a command line to a file?

Does this mean that it already had Voice Control functionality built in, but Apple chose to leave it de-activated?

That seems like an odd choice. I am hopeful that Voice Control greatly increases the safety of using the iPad as an iPod while driving.

Yeah, I'd guess so seeing as it is running a modified iPhone OS

Awesome, thanks for getting me to think about this. I forgot all about Voice Control since I only have an iPhone 3G :)

Is the bottom part missing graphics files? I dont have an iPhone 3GS screenshot to compare it to. I say if we enable it, why not make it look stock

Yeah, it should say 'Cancel' on the bit where the line is.

I just press the home button to kick me out of Voice Control. Simple as that.

Jailbreaking the iPad?

So just jailbreak it... it takes a 15 seconds and only one click.

OK, so how DID you jailbreak the iPad, and how safe is this procedure this soon after the release of the iPad?

No thanks. I have no reason to jailbreak it. Not worried about customization with Winterboard, etc.

Uhhhh... oh, ok. Its just in your first post you seemed interested in enableing voice control until you read you need to jailbreak. (I guess that world be a reason to jailbreak??)

It couldn't be any easier and its just about impossible to screw up (if you dont want the JB anymore, just restore back to normal in iTunes)

- Download the Spirit JB
- Open the program
- Plug in the iPad
- Click Jailbreak
- Wait for it to reboot and you done :)
