Hello everyone, i jailbreaked/unlocked/upgraded my iphone 3g to 3.0 from 2.1 about 2 weeks ago and i just found out yesterday that i have not been receiving my calls since then!! I tried it this morning to confirm. When i call the phone, i hear it ring about twice (on the phone i'm calling from) then it goes quiet for 2 seconds and then i hear my voicemail recording. THE IPHONE NEVER EVEN RINGS!! I can make calls perfectly and everyone can hear me clearly but i don't receive my calls at all!! I have all my signal bars and even the E icon. I can even send/receive text messages perfectly! I JUST received a voicemail this morning that someone left for me yesterday evening and now the voicemail icon (the number 1 in the red dot) won't disappear either!!

WHAT WENT WRONG??!!:confused::confused::confused::mad::mad:
SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR SUGGESTIONS!!
IS THERE A FIX OR SOMETHING IN CYDIA??

THANKS

I have the same problem with 3GS 16GB. Unlocked and Jailbroken but I can't receive phone calls. I too am in need of help. Anybody??

what phone carrier?

wouldnt it be the carrier file problem? did you update that while you update your firmware?

UNOFFICAL PHONE CARRIER IN THE CARIBBEAN. I never had to update any carrier file to receive calls when i was using the piggy back sim. I have carrier 4.0 right now.

Well, for the 3G, you don't say how you did the JB and unlock, and whether you're using the unlock or are with the official carrier, but my advice would be this:

- restore the phone to stock 3.0. If you have an official SIM check that everything works OK again.

- jailbreak with RedSn0w, and install Cydia. Again check if it's working with official SIM.

- install UltraSn0w for the unlock. Check it works with the unofficial SIM and with the official one.

Since you say you're on the Edge network, one possibility is that something on your phone (possibly a JB app) is keeping the internet connection open. With Edge, you cannot do data and calls at the same time. If this is the case then test again each time you install and use a JB app.

With the 3GS, as you can't restore to 3.0, all I'd suggest is use Pwnage to build a custom ipsw again and reinstall. If you're using the unlock, choose hactivation, if you're on the official carrier uncheck that option.

Carrier 4.0 as well. Orange UK. I bought my phone from USA already unlocked/jailbroken. I am definitely NOT in anyway a techie so any help in laymans terms would be much appreciated

Okay. I have no JB apps besides memtool. I jailbreaked with redsnow 0.8 and it was unlocked with ultrasn0w. Also My edge network is not connected because i have the data service turned off by my carrier. The E icon is just there because the edge network is available. The official at&t sim does not work over here so i wouldn't be able to test it.

MAJOR UPDATE: I found a way to "ACTIVATE" call receiving BUT it only lasts about FOUR minutes:(:(. Ok, what i do is call any number from the iphone. It goes through of course, then i hang up and if i call my iphone number from any other phone, i can receive calls!! BUT i can only receive calls for about 4 minutes after i made that test call!! WHY IS THAT??? ANYBODY??:confused: Obviously the part of the phone that runs in the background to RECEIVE calls is turning itself off but i do not know what the process is of course.

NOTE: I NEVER had this problem with my piggy back sim. Calling/receiving and text messages were a breeze. i thought software unlocking was something so fool proof and without any flaws because it was the piggy back sims that got so much negative feedback. :(:(

The phone app is designed to run all the time in the background.

Are you sure memtool or something else on the phone isn't turning it off ?

Could be why you can only get incoming calls for 4 minutes.

Not obvious and likely untrue. The phone app is not what lets you receive calls. It's probably an issue with your carrier. You should probably call them and ask why you're not receiving calls.

When i put my sim in another phone i receive calls just fine so its not the carrier. Any other ideas??:confused:

It does sound as if the baseband is somehow corrupted and is "going to sleep" after the 4 minutes, ie either disconnecting from the cell network or failing to respond to incoming call signals.

It may be that the update to 3.0 got corrupted, so it's worth re-doing that via DFU mode on your phone, then running RedSn0w again. And because of the SMS bug IN 3.0, you might as well make it 3.0.1.

Give it a try and see if it fixes it.

Does redn0w & ultrasn0w unlock and jailbreak ORIGINAL 3.01?? Also i removed memtool as someone suggested earlier and restarted phone and still not receiving calls properly.

Perhaps memtool is killing the ultrasn0w background process. I would try restoring and rejailbreaking, *not* installing memtool, running ultrasn0w to unlock and testing your SIM.

Can't receive calls on iphone 3gs on 3.1.2 jailbreak/unlock for use with Tmobile

I jailbroken and unlocked my iphone 3gs running on 3.1.2 using it with T-mobile, but can't receive calls while on standby. It doesn't show any miss calls. I tried to call myself 10 minutes after the phone went on standby, and it directly forwarded the call to voicemail. Please help!! I don't have any problem making calls, but just can't receive them. Please advise on what to do!! Is there a code on cydia THAT CAN resolve this problem? Does anyone else have the same problem?

UPDATE: It turns out that it was some problem with my sim card and the iphone. The sim card would receive all calls once it was in another phone but not the iphone. I just got a replacement sim card from my carrier and VOILA i can receive my calls again!!! Maybe u can try this! :)
