I'm interested in making an app for the iphone. I've never really used a Mac before, so I'm having some issues getting everything going. I have the iPhone SDK downloaded and installed, but when I try and run an example from Apple, it tells me it has tons of errors. I'm assuming this has something to do with the program not knowing the location of the libraries.

I'm using XCode and the example I'm trying to run is using UIKit. Could someone please explain how to get an example from Apple up and running, or point me towards a tutorial? (PC literate, new to Mac)

Yea I have the same problem with that sample code, I would suggest using other tutorials from this website. Go into the beginner first and they have some really simple hello world type tutorials to get you used to the SDK. I used the same website for about a week then went up to intermediate and understood all of it.
