Just got my 15 PM from Tmobile.

Sorry, I haven't been active enough over the years to see what the best way to set up a new phone is.

Is the "bring old phone next to the new phone" method reliable / good way set up the new one? It seems easy enough.

I'm not as tech / iPhone savvy as most of you here.

Thanks in advance!

That process worked well for me. You might want to confirm that your sim isn't locked before you start.

I just restore from backup. Will take a day or two but generally doesn’t have too much hassle. iPhone nearby never tried.

I literally always set it up as a new phone. I’ve never had any issues with overheating, inflated “other” in file storage etc. this is the way.

I’ve always done the quick setup phone to phone method. This time it took about 50 minutes to complete. First update the phones. After a couple tries everything went smoothly.

Quick Setup to transfer account and eSIM then iCloud restore for apps and data is the method I chose. I was able to begin using the phone in like 15 mins.
