Hey all,

I got my 2.0GHz MacBook on time today and I was just wondering how hot a normal MB runs? Mine's currently about 60 deg on my lap and I was wondering what people were using to cool this down?

Thanks,
MBG

smcfancontrol. Im assuming the 60 is Celsius. Thats a tad bit higher than the CD MB but you have a C2D so that should be normal.

The C2D MBs run hotter than the CD MBs because of the processor? I'm hooked up to an external right now but its running at 70C without the iSkin. Not sure what's wrong :(

My temp is at 48.8C, no cooling pad

Hm, but you have a MBP and don't they have 2 fans?

Anyways, I tried it with a cooling pad and it doesn't work because it seems like the fans are expelling the heat out towards the back and the cooling pad is trying to expel the heat from the bottom which there are no vents. It's about 51C right now...

I don't know why mine is lower. Both fans were running at 25xx RPM.

Have you tried adjusting the power settings? More power usage = more heat output.

Turn off features you aren't using such as BlueTooth or AirPort. Don't leave a CD/DVD in the drive. Add a ton of RAM so the HD won't need to be spun up as often.

Laptops are not desktops, you make sacrifices in power/heat/weight to have a powerful portable. Apple cannot change the laws of physics!

I set the power setting on Better Energy Savings ever since I turned on the MB.

BT is off. AP is on. No CD/DVD in optical drive. It's got 2GB of RAM.

It fluctuates alot though...from as low as 42C (that's cause I set the Fan to 6200rpm but at 2000rpm its at 46C and sometimes jumps up to 70C for no reason).

Would VirtueDesktop affect this? I don't have anything running in the other desktops though.
