Hi, picked up the 11" iPad Pro 64 wifi only today, coming from a 10.5 cellular
Here are my thoughts on it.
went with wifi only as I hardy never used cellular and could not see spending the money for it.
I was not planning on upgrading to the 11 had wanted to move up to the 12.9 but after thinking
about how I use it day to day I decided to stay with the 11.
my use is mostly drawing, reading and photo editing and misc other things
I got it at apple as they offered the best trade in for my old one.
no issues no bending, screen is great, runs very nice, Face ID is rock solid and setup went smooth.
I got the Apple Pencil as well. like having it always paired and changed now (one of the main upgrade
reasons and it feels better now that its not as glossy
got the smart folio case as well and its fine, it works very well, I've seen some reviews saying the edges are sharp when holding but did not find it bad and they will most likely soften as it is broken in.
I do want to get just a back case for it like my old one and put a pop socket on it as this worked great holding it for drawing.
well just my two cents

Cool. Same model & case as me.

Since you’ve got the Pencil, it may be an option to look for a case that has a Pencil holster within it? There are a few out now, some have the holster on the left, but some have it on the right, where it can charge at the same time. They also have Pencil stands next to the holster where you can store the Pencil upright.

I got the FINTIE case off Amazon for $9.99. It protects the corners of the ipad and even has a pencil sleeve on the back for when you’re not using or charging your pencil.

I have mine for 4 days now since giving my 10.5 to my daughter. I am very pleased as well and am awaiting delivery of my case. I am not going to get the ASK but may get the pencil again if I find enough use for it.

I get that you like this case, but Apple's folio case is absolutely amazing. I’d love you to weigh that case. I’m guessing it weighs an awful lot.

The Apple cases are cool. But i never buy Apple cases. It’s funny. I am willing to pay up for Apple devices, but not cases. Lol. I actually bought two cases. The ESR folio, which is identical to the Apple folio to me. And then the FINTIE that i posted above...which is heavier than the folio for sure. But i travel a lot, and i really like the pencil sleeve & added protection on the corners that it provides without adding too much weight like the otterbox cases. I believe the ESR folio cost about $20 and the FINTIE was $9.99. So in total, i got 2 cases for about a third of the cost of the Apple Folio. I think the cases i got are just as robust material wise as the Apple case. I am surprised Apple doesn’t at least emboss it’s logo on it’s cases so you know you have an Apple case. But no matter what case you get, as long as it does it’s job, it’s all good.

Buy what you can afford and not be in debt.

This is true. To me tho, it’s not about the money that I buy 3rd party cases. It’s the principal. If I used the keyboard on an iPad, i’d Probably buy the Apple Smart Keyboard folio. But I don’t. I just use a regular case. And I just can’t bring myself to spend 7x as much for a regular Apple portfolio when I can buy an identical case that’s probably made in the same factory for so much less.

A week on and yeah by far the best of the bunch (my 4th)! Although i got a Ztotop folio case from Amazon, however i enjoy using just a clear silicon back case at home; to appreciate the thinness & paperweight aesthetic form factor.

When not in use or charging it stays in my old 10.5 Vaja case pouch+ pencil loop, suffice to say i am a very happy camper albeit i did'nt have to upgrade:p

OP are you happy with the screen real estate ? Don't you think the screen is a little too tiny and cramped ? Somehow on this year's 11" iPad Pro it looks more obvious than even last year's 10.5" iPad Pro !

Can’t speak for the OP, but as far as my opinion? No way. I friggin love the 11” screen. I think the new aspect ratio is fantastic. For me it’s as big as i’d ever want a tablet to be. It’s just as holdable in one hand as in two, which for me is what a tablet is meant to be...and yet the screen seems expansive. I compared the 12.9” and the 11” extensively side by side. I am an artist, so i thought the 12.9” would win me over, but in the end, the 11” just felt right. I also prefered how a lot of content actually looked bigger on the 11” while on the 12.9” there seemed to be a lot of wasted space. But of course this is a very subjective question, and opinions will vary. Both are great devices, and will have champions in both camps.

This thing that you talk about a lot of wasted space on the 12.9" iPad Pro versus the 11" is just a matter of time right before All the APPS get updated to fit to the 12.9" aspect ratio after that the 12.9" would easily win the game because of the bigger screen isn't it ?

Actually, i am not talking about space in terms of apps or aspect ratio. I was refering to the empty space between icons and how spread out a lot of the content is on the 12.9”. I just found that annoying compared to the 11” where the empty space wasn’t so much and as a result, content looked bigger.

Some things to my eyes did look better on the 12.9” so i am not knocking it. But I just found more often than not, i preferred the way things looked on the 11”.

Again, this is all very subjective.

That’s an open question. We’ll just have to wait and see. Not so clear they’ll be so different

Certainly a case for holding off until such apps do appear. It’s not like Apple has any real sales or discounts that provide an incentive to buy on the come.

One more thing you said is, you thought that the content on the 11" iPP look more than the 12.9" can you give an example to see this ? Just curious to find out what are you trying to say here ?

It varied. I posted about this before when i was trying to decide btwn the two. I posted pics of both the 11” & 12.9” side by side at the apple store with the same apps opened in splitscreen. I think you even commented on them.

Again, it varied from app to app.

Have you bought your ipad pro yet? Or are you still on the fence trying to decide?

Ummm..I kind of vaguely remember yes, maybe I commented on that Thread, will have to go back and check.

Nope I have still not pulled the trigger, Last couple of years that I have studied and understood the trend on how the quality of iPad changes (With regards to factory manufacturing issues, defects) Especially now the Bendgate issue is so much in the news...I have reached to a conclusion it is best not to take the plunge immediately. Not in haste or hurry and I am not atall in any hurry. So I want to give it a full 3 months Manufacturing Cycle for the Production Procedures to stabilize and the Quality to hit the right chord and then I will pull the trigger. So maybe end of Jan or Feb. Again this is my Philosophy and it may not be true, but for such an expensive device I am in no hurry to get on to the running horse. Plus not having the freedom to buy and return in the 14 day return period, because it does not exist here. I just have one shot to take and I have to get it right. So it is damn bloody risky !!

The screen size was one of my debates about going to the 12.9 but after thinking about my use I felt the 11 would
suit my use the best.
the times I use split screen view on the old one was not bad, and most of the apps I use the layout of the apps are done
pretty well.
I also fine having the swipe feature on the iPad handy if two apps are needed.
I still have my desktop system (MacOS) as well.
Also I will confess the cost played a role in me staying with the smaller size as well, but in the end the small one
suits my use case very well and happy with my choice.
Also one other thing I do not feel the new Ipad is going to bend if I look at it wrong, sure if not treated right
it would.
Thank you happy new year.

Anyone else feel the bending issue is overblown? I could see it happening but holding and using it
Feels like a solid device to me

As it seems, the LTE models are bent due to the prodution process, it does not affect the function, but if it bothers you try to swap the device for one without LTE.
Edit: not all are bend, see post later.

I have a LTE 11” model and it’s not bent. Please don’t make a blanket statement that all LTE models are bent. Cause they aren’t. I don’t think that anyone should be afraid to buy one. This whole thing is getting way overblown. Or should I say bent out of proportion. ;)

right, not all LTE models are bent, sorry for that.

You hit the nail, Reading all these news, I am now way way too much paranoid about getting a bent iPad Pro straight out of the box ! One of the main reasons I am deffering my purchase.

I got mine essentially at launch and it was straight, but in the last week somebody (possibly even me!) sat on it and it’s slightly bent and no longer lies flat, which is how I’m certain beyond the eye test. It certainly doesn’t affect the use and of wouldn’t know it except when it’s lying on a flat surface so I’m not sure whether I’ll try to swap it. However I also have the issue where it doesn’t always recognize key presses around the middle of the keyboard so I may try to address that.

I don’t think I’d be worried about brand new bent iPads myself either, but I would say they do take a bit more care than my first gen 12.9 seemed to need
