and whats the other cable for? there were 2 in the box. one for the power but whats the other?

Assuming they both have plugs on them one is an extension for the power brick: the plug on that pulls off and the extension can be used instead.

Your magsave adaptor can be plugged directly into the wall or you could attach an extension. Is that what you are talking about.

Alternatively, is it a Firewire or USB? (check the logo on the cable compared to the logos on the left hand edge or the MacBook. I think mines came with a spare Firewire.
