Hi, recently got a new iMac 27" i7, an am extremely happy with it. There is a slight yellow tinge in the bottom right hand corner, it doesn't bother me that much, you only see it when looking at white stuff :). I'm assuming this is covered by Applecare for the 3 years (should I want to sell it, i'd probably want it changed)? If it is, i'll wait a couple years so they can get the screen right :)

FYI it was built in the week starting 6th March.

Thanks.

If you have bought the AppleCare, then it's covered for 3 years but if you don't, it's only one year.

Hi,

Yeah I have Applecare, so if I decide to get it looked at after like, 2 years, it'll still be fine (and covered by Applecare)?

Thanks,

I dont see why it would be easier now than a year or 2 down the line. After reading all the reports of people returning macs 3/4/5+ times, I think i'll wait... :)

amazing, people pay thru the nose for premium hardware that isn't really premium and when its a bit of a dud the customer says, hey thanks Apple you've done me a favour!

world's gone mad.!

Because it's a hot topic and very sensitive for Apple at the moment. After two years nobody remembers it and they may say it's normal for LCDs and don't replace it. I would get it replaced immediately when non-yellow screens finally arrive

I am in the same boat as you are. I bought a 27 C2D that had no yellow tinge, but did have a dead pixel smack dab in the middle of the screen. It bothered me so much that I returned it and used it as an excuse to upgrade to an i5(since everything else was perfect).

The i5 just came 2 weeks ago and the yellowing is pretty ridiculous. If I have forums open(for instance this one) and have it at the right hand of the screen, it is VERY noticeable due to the two grays/white combo I guess. Empty white screens are also very noticeable as well. Also gray banding issues.

I don't want to lug this thing back to Best Buy for a refund. So I guess I'll just wait a few months and take it to the Apple store in Chicago(3+ hour drive) so that I can see for myself that the problem has been fixed before I walk out. Until then I will continue to enjoy it and try to look past the issues. However it is so bad that I am now changing my computing habits to reflect this. For instance, my most important browser window is always placed on the left hand side to avoid the tinge, while my supplement window(Vevo.com or similar) is on the right.
