Howdy all,

Just bought a Verizon FiveSpot. Brought it home, went through the setup process that includes plugging the device into the USB to activate it. I was immediately able to establish a connection while it was plugged into the USB.

So I unplug it and let it restart so I could establish a WiFi connection(like it was designed to do) and my computer finds the FiveSpot's hotspot. I connect to it and open a Safari, and kablooey, I have no internet connection. The FiveSpot is broadcasting a Wifi network, but not internet connectivity.

Anybody know why my iMac would connect to the internet while the FiveSpot was in USB mode, but not while broadcasting WiFi?

I thought maybe it was my iMac, but my Air does the same thing.

I thought I'd try here before I dive headlong into Verizon's tech support.

Thanks alot in advance!

Did you run through the initial setup entirely? My MiFi required an encrypted WiFi connection, otherwise it wouldn't connect.

If you've gone through that, are you pulling an IP from the device?

What IP ? If it begins with 169.254. you're not getting an IP, your Mac is assigning an auto-generated one.
