TL;DR - AirPods are fantastic and I can’t believe I’ve lived with other Bluetooth earbuds until now. Using them is magical.
I received a pair of 2nd generation AirPods for Christmas this year, and I am absolutely blown away. From the unboxing to the actual use they are phenomenal products.
The unboxing was just as satisfying as any other Apple device I’ve opened, and I was kind of surprised by the size of the AirPods carrying case. I’ve tried them in an Apple Store, and I just didn’t remember the car being so small. It’s nice how portable it is, and closing the lid is the most satisfying thing ever.
The AirPods are much more comfortable in my ears than the EarPods ever were, probably because there’s no cable tugging on the buds.
I love how quickly the AirPods connect to my phone. Being able to just take them out of the case, put them in my ears, and listen is just incredibly freeing. I’ve owned Bluetooth earbuds before, and I never realized how long it takes to connect to the earbuds every time you want to use them. Now if I want to listen to something on my phone, I just put an AirPod in and hit play.
Double tap actions have worked flawlessly every time I’ve used them. I have me left AirPod set to Siri (in case Hey Siri ever fails to activate), and my right AirPod set to skip to the next track.
Automatic Device Switching is also an awesome convenience feature, and although I’ve only used it twice, it’s nice not having to think about which device the AirPods are connected to.
I haven’t tried Announce Messages with Siri yet, but I’m sure it’s also a magical feature.
And to think that these are just regular AirPods, and aren’t even AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, I can’t imagine how awesome ANC, Spatial Audio, Transparency Mode, and Adaptive EQ are. This also makes me justify the price of the AirPods Max more. If they offer this same magical experience and more, they are the best headphones and earbuds you can get for an Apple device.
In short, AirPods are just fantastic, and they’ve worked perfectly for me. I cannot stress how much the H1 chip affects your experience, and the convenience it adds to the device. If you are on the fence about AirPods, just know that I think they are incredibly magical, and are almost definitely worth the investment.
