I've had the 20" ADC for a year, and I'm still impressed by it. I guess it's not as a good a deal as the dell... but I love it.

You got that right. I saw the light, with this same setup, in February. Isn't it fantastic? I treasure it. The 20-inch ACD is beautiful.

To the post about how the Powerbook handles it - It handles it beautifully. I never experience any lag doing video intensive tasks.

I'm obsessed with my 20" ACD.

Even though I paid (a lot) more than a 20" Dell. I haven't regretted it once.

:D

i just bought a 20" ACD also...i think i got a pretty good deal for it: $759.21 =
$788.99 (-$50.00 off $500.00 purchase) + $20.22 s/h.

i have a couple concerns reading from other forums (for those of you that have a 20" acd):

1) issues with USB/firewire ports burning out - has this happened to any of you?

2) if the screen comes with dead pixels - will apple do anything to repair?

Hi,

I like my 20" aluminum acd also, but I really like the 22" plastic one that I had better. I kind of miss it, but I sold it for a good amount and picked up the 20" for $500. The screen is great, but I'm definitely not sure if I would spend the regular price on it.

It is quite the decorating piece though!! Enjoy!

1. No issues of burning out for me yet or from what I have read from others...

2. I think five or more justifies Apple to take it back. I have three and I don't even notice them until I look for them. Pixel anomalies are part of the LCD game... You'll be alright unless it gets really bad or flickers vertical lines... (that's nasty)

I have a 12" PB and I was always curious how well it would run on the ACDs. My PowerMac controls my 20" ACD. The graphics card was not performing when I first bought the ACD, but it seems to have settled.

Have fun showing it off as your new "wow" to your friends.

We want pics!! We want pics!!

I love seeing photos of those tiny PowerBooks driving the big ACD's. Anyone got a photo of a 15" PowerBook running a 30" ACD?

Another happy customer with a newly delivered 20" Cinema Display

No dead pixels, and I'm blown away with the image quality.... I just couldn't stick running my Power Mac through an old 19" CRT. Just didn't do it justice

That happens to be what I am doing (using 19" Dell Trinitron), perhaps it is time for me to go and buy a 20" ACD.

Hope this is vaguely on-topic

Can someone let me know if a new iBook will run a Dell 2405FPW (the 24 inch widescreen LCD) with the spanning hack?

Will it run DVDs on the widescreen smoothly? HD content?

Getting advice for a mate.

Thanks

It will mirror your desktop res. It will look nasty. It is not worth it.

thanks, but I mean SPANNING not mirroring. Yes the iBooks don't do spanning, but there is a small file you can download that will enable the iBook to span.

*Unsupported by Apple*

cheers

WOW

I got myself also a 20'' ACD and I need to say that I'm ****ing impressed. But I got one dead pixel as far as I can tell and it doesn't bother me, but I'm curious; how many dead pixel do you have to have so you can return it?

Forget about the question, forgot to read all the posts. My bad.

I dont think the ibook will handle all those pixels very well.. you might be able to get away with the 2005fpw though. I know my powerbook handes the 2005 very well
