iPod Just Got Back From the Apple Store

Well after a long match versus the Apple Genius, store manager, and another Apple Genius, I've won.

I just proved to all of them that there's something wrong with the iPod Shuffle's ability to play protected music properly. They tried everything they could think of. I told them that the files would work on any other iPod except the Shuffle. The files did work on the iPod we tried.

If you have an iPod Shuffle, download the 3Style free single off of iTunes. Now trying playing it. It's impossible to pause or seek on this song. We tried it in-store on 3 demo iPod Shuffles.

Get ready for a software update...

It'll play perfectly on any other iPod except the iPod Shuffle. I have protected music that'll work just fine in iTunes and work on ANY other iPod. It just won't play properly on the iPod Shuffle.

Lots of other Shuffle users appear to be having protected music problems. They might have changed they way they encode the M4P's. It's conflicting with Shuffle somehow.

Hm. Guess I'll have to go back to Hymn then. I hope Apple fixes this.

I've noticed this sometimes too. It happens on Tiesto's 'Adagio for Strings' too..very annoying.

Let's hope they fix it soon.

I just experienced this problem yesterday after downloading two Judee Sill albums. I'm lucky if I can get one of the songs to play. Glad to see I'm not the only one... I've been really frustrated with this.

It only seems to effects songs that I purchased after May 11th. All of my old songs work perfectly.

They're from the ITMS, and they have very, very few songs that are downloaded in anything but 128.
