I got my macbook right now at my desk unopened. Should I wait till after tomorrow since its "Tuesday " :p. Or is it safe to open it and use it for a day then if there is an update return it?

There will not be an update on laptops until January. If you don't want to use your laptop, you can feel free to send it to me :)

Just use it. You bought it, so get some pleasure out of it. I don't know what Apple's return policy is on situations like this, but I'm sure if you box it back up fine, they'll take it back and swap it out for a newer one.

Ok sounds good,

Here is it

I wanna get my hands on it :D

Mine is due to arrive Wednesday. It will be opened without delay, and there will be no photos as I want to get my grubby mitts on it (although they will be freshly washed).

I have no idea how you could sit there and look at the box like that. I can't even sit looking at a chocolate bar on my desk without being tempted to open it.

Man just use it! I wouldn't worry about the update but its up to you. If I had a box like that sitting on my desk I'd have ripped it open straight away!

My roommate didn't open his Mac Mini for a week. It killed me because I had to send my Macbook out for a repair so I was forced to go without a macintosh, he chose to. Pissed me off hardcore.

A computer is outdated before it even leaves the manufacturer. Faster models are going to be here in the future, and prices will continue to drop.

Those are all facts, it is part of anything IT related, servers, monitors, laptops, desktops even computer carts!

If you can't deal with it, go back to pen and pencil! :D ;)

Dude, they aren't going to update for a month, and for what you're probably going to be doing, why does it matter? Seriously, go ahead and open it? Do you think I give a care about Merom?

Aperture, Final Cut Pro, these apps have worked well on one-core processors for a long time, so you'll be just fine. :)

I opened it and I love it !!!

One question, whats the best way to take your songs from your PC and transfer them to your mac?

Now that is what I call willpower. I never even get out of the parking lot or my entryway before opening my new ones. :D Open the damn thing already!!! **Crosses fingers and prays that new ones are not released tomorrow**

Yeah, but you have a self-confessed psychological issue with ne Mac products. :D

the only reason for waiting is because Apple are going to reduce the cost of upgrades to a sensible level (see iMac and Mac Mini), other than that Merom will offer a 10% boost, who cares?

This should be a sticky on every forum which is currently going on about this new fangled counting machine, memron, or whatever the hell its called...

I can't wait for the next round in about 6 months when they all wet themselves about the core 8 duo which runs off the power requirements of a hamster in a wheel...

man I would have waited but the chances are pretty slim and it is really hard to resist opening a new toy

Congrats on your new comp.

How many files do you have? The cheapest way would be to buy some blank CDs and burn them as data discs to transfer them. Just make sure the formatting is correct or they won't be compatible between the OSs. If you are talking about hundreds of gigs of music, then you should look into an external hard drive.
