I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a decent multifunction printer that works well with intel-based macs. I would love if the printer software itself was minimally intrusive (doesn't have like 10 things running in the background) and is native to intel. I would use my old Officejet G55, but HP's drivers suck garbage.

BTW, I got the 2.33GHz version and picked it up yesterday for only $1970! Sweet deal!

Apple has a $100 rebate for printers, but you have to have the printer and mac on the same receipt!

With my MBP, I ordered the Canon iP4300. It looks awesome, the ink is cheap and it's really fast. I just tried with my Windows machine, my MBP isnt here yet (Fedex rep said it'll be here before 10PM)

Cool...hey, is there any reason to reinstall OS X? I see a lot of people do that, however with the ability to use monolingual to get rid of the extra languages, is it really necessary?

yes it is intel friendly, and it is a multi function printer, there is always a good amount of software for them. There is no way around that, if you want to reduce it, you can customize the install, and Use photoshop for all your scanning. But I think you have to install the HP image manager first to get the scan drivers, from there just remove their image management software.

The print quality from the photosmart 7800 series is well worth it. Espeically if you are printing photos at all.
