Just got my refurb MBP C2D and I have to say that it really blows my 1.83 CD MBP outta the water! There is one dead pixel in the top left corner (by the blue apple logo) but it isn't annoying at all. Anyway to "try" to remove it?

But my MBP CD I had it from October to just a week ago then I sold it on ebay and bought the refurb MBP 2.16 C2D from apple for $1599. The Core Duo has 1.83 processor, 1.5gig RAM. The only differences that would affect speed performance I guess. So the Core 2 Duo has 2.16 processor and 2gigs RAM. I can really tell a difference and I am very pleased!

Just wanting to relay this info to anyone trying to decide between the two. I think the extra ghz matters, either that or just the Core 2 over Core

That's great to hear. I've been toying with the idea of getting a MacBook Pro, but really can't justify it. However, it's good to hear that you've had a good experience with the refurbished store and the C2D MacBook Pro. I'll probably wait a while to get anything new (and hope for the 12" MacBook Pro), but I'll probably order from the refurbished store.

Congrats

It's good to hear that you like it.

I am so torn right now abut what refurb to get.

I could go with the refurb 2.0 macbook except for that damn 950GMA

The Refurb 1.83 and 2.0 Core duo are nice except they have less RAM and HD (not easily upgradeable)

I'd love the 2.16 C2d, but it costs 1,800 + with Apple care:eek:

Your experience keeps me torn:(

anyways....congrats

Question

I have a question for you. Does your MBP C2D have a Firewire 800 port? I was just curious because my boyfriend is considering a refurb MBP C2D but is concerned because Apple does not list the firewire 800 port on the specs page. I have assumed it is just an oversight but it would be great if someone else could confirm this.

Thanks!

Rest assured it will. Refurbs and new have the same physical specs. The refurb page usually only contains brief specs

ya it's got a firewire 800 port. it really is a great laptop if you buy at refurb price. I think $1799 is too expensive but for $1599, it's not a bad deal. There are times that I wish I had a desktop with huge monitor and tons of RAM and storage, but I have no money for all that right now!

If anyone is deciding between Core 2 Duo and Core Duo MBP, get the C2D. Not just for the processor difference, but RAM, HD, Firewire, etc.
