Hey Everyone, I just made the 'Switch' and got a new MBP as well as a Mighty Mouse. As I am using them, I feel as though the tips of my fingers get really sticky. I wash my hands countless times throughout the day, so it can't be something on my fingers. I feel like it may some something to do with switching from the plastic mouse, to the very smooth keyboard. Has anyone else had the problem? When I go home today, I am going to be pay close attention to see if it happens with my left hand as well.

Also, I've read a lot about the MacBooks becoming discolored. Has this been an issue with the MBPs? I'd like to be careful and not get any discoloration, or even oil marks. Are the MBPs prone to getting oil marks? Anyone have any remedies for this?

Thanks for the help!

No. MBs are white (or black) and the discoloration is because of heat chaning the plastic's color. Since your MBP is aluminum, this is not an issue.

I have never had this issue of sticky fingers with any MBP that has come through my hands.

No discoloration with the MBPs. The mighty mouse is made from glossy plastic and they attract fingerprints over time which can give a "sticky" effect. Best thing to do is either clean regularly or get another mouse i chose the latter be it for different reasons.

If you are slightly OCD like me, you can keep a bottle of iklear in your bag along with a nice microfiber cloth. I use that at the end of each day on my MBP and mighty mouse and it keeps the mouse nice and smooth.

I know exactly that you mean. If I don't do it, the mouse does feel slightly sticky.

that's exactly it eddie... thanks.. I'm going to try and get some tonight...

so what about oil marks??? do the keys tend to get these??? or what about where you rest your palms???

i don't know how i feel about getting a cover for the keys. what have you guys done?

I take a q-tip soaked in iklear to the keys once a month or so and that's been enough to keep them clean. (that's including my two G4 PB's going back to 2002)

as for the palm rest, I wipe that area down with the iklear. Takes about 2 seconds and that keeps that fine. My watch did scratch up my original Ti book pretty badly. But that hasn't been an issue for me on the Al books.

the same thing happens with my ps2 controller...maybe ill try the iklear idea...is there even a difference between iclear and iklean...maybe i should start a post...
