UPS guy just delivered my 1.83ghz MBP!!! It's a week 26, so Im guessing these are the last of its kind! I got it from macconnection for 1499! But right now Im still typing on my gf's macbook as I'm still updating and customizing it! I am loving the backlit keyboard!:D

Sorry for too much enthusiasm:D

Its all about the backlight keyboard, totally rocks. Nice work, the computer is so much nicer than the macbooks in performance and design.

Congrats! :)

Oooh you lucky, lucky bastard....:D :D

Have fun with it, that's a very sweet machine you've got there. I can't wait till 2008 when I can start looking for a new Mac.

How long do you wait between Macs? I bought my last one in 2003.

Thanks guys! Amazingly, the MBP runs a bit cooler than the MB. This one runs around 52 C with the stock 512 RAM, the MB runs at around 60 C with 2gb of ram. However, the HD for this is at 42C and the MB's HD is at around 35C.

Interesting. I thought the 1.83 was discontinued week 16 when the new 2ghz MBPs were introduced at the same price point. Did they actually continue to make them after that?

Yeh, but that really doesn't matter. You're becoming a PC techie :p

Stock items are the answer. The speed difference is unnoticable...

I don't care about the speed. As you said, it's negligible. When I bought my 2ghz MBP, the person in the apple store told me that the 1.83 had been discontinued as of week 16, but apparently that was not the case.

Anyway, to the OP: congratulations on getting a good one and enjoy!

^^ Well, I got it for 1499 with a travel bag for it. Im guessing I got a good deal as the base model right now sells for around 1999 which I cant afford big time. I was originally going for the 2.0 ghz macbook (1200 after rebate), because I need the superdrive but I wanted a powerbook/MBP since my last ibook and now I have the chance to own one for 300 more...

btw, Thanks again guys. now I just have to figure out a way to pay off all my debt

, and steal a stick of 1ghz ram from my gf's MB

j/k about the RAM, but not the debt...:(

:( Well you should get the new logic board then. Do it now before you get too hooked on the splendor of your MBP :D

 What's this? Pardon my ignorance, I havent been reading alot about the MBP yet. Is there a recall on the logic board?

Not a recall, check it out http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303365
Apple installs a new logic board which doesn't remove the whine completely but reduces the volume of the whine. Some posters has reported that the heat emitted is reduced too. So get it done and get more enjoyment out of your MBP.

Hey, thanks a lot! I might just give my local apple retailer a visit!
