Where its way too hot.
I got the 2 TB hitachi hd with mine. First time I have ever had a drive that exceeds the amount listed. It's rated at slightly over 2TB!!! I have 1.99 Tb left to transfer from my 24 inch iMac.

Also, did the screen test. It came out good so far without any problems. This screen is incredible. My wife saw it and said it would be great for scrapbooking. I told her she'd be wanting one before long. :D

Anybody know what drive would be good as a time machine drive for this monster drive? Should it be partitioned and use two drives? Can that be done?

Personally I agree with you, amazing computer my i5 was damn "near perfect" as well. Only difference is I picked up the 1TB model.

Currently using a 1TB Western Digital MyBook USB and a 1TB WD Caviar Black drive in an aftermarket enclosure via firewire 300GB set aside for TM.

Good to hear this positive report.
There are many zealots here who will attempt to discredit your report of an excellent screen. They might ask for photos to "prove" what you say is true. Or they might suggest you do not have a sensitive enough eye to notice the so-called problem they'll insist is there.
Please don't succumb to the rantings of these people. Just enjoy your machine and ignore those whose agenda is to spread dissatisfaction.

I use Time Capsule with Time Machine, and it works like a charm - also use the Time Capsule for my internet signal as it's 5Ghz and my 20mbps internet is wireless at that rate too from the other side of my appartment (Time capsule in Lounge, iMac in office over the other side of the building).

Sir, we are not all "zealots" trying to discredit anyone! Many of us have genuine issues and are simply very frustrated.

I stood on the sideline of this iMac issue all the way until a few weeks ago.

My 4th iMac is coming this morning. The problems I've had have all been extreme and graphics related. Not just some simple yellowing or anything.

I'm thrilled to hear that others are apparently getting good units. I wish I could get one!

Kind of like this guy, right?

He complains about a yellow tint problem AND asks for photos to be posted.

Is SirCecil for REAL?

My iMac screen has an unnatural tinge. The bottom third of the screen is lovely and warm, almost sunny and definitely pleasing to the eye, but the top two-thirds seems to lack yellow content and looks cold and uninviting.
Should I take this back?

Hate to admit it, but the truth must be told, however painful to admit... there now IS a clearly-seen yellowish strip covering an area of about 1" across the whole width of the bottom of my screen. But it fades out rapidly and there is no yellow at all above that. It is an area corresponding approximately with the height of the dock.
Perhaps interestingly, this has happened within a day of downloading the graphics card firmware update.

I have a slight yellowing at the bottom of the screen myself. So I am all for accurate tests that show the problem and help resolve it. It's a pity a respected publication hasn't produced such tests and images in a professional environment.

What I'd like to see is a color, photographed with his camera, at his location, with his setup, and shown to be color-accurate across the frame. Not a portion of the camera frame, but the whole frame. Simple request I would have thought

To the original poster:

Take a photo, with your excellent camera, of any large sheet of card (in any light-toned color of your choice) and post it here for our perusal. I'd like to see an un-retouched photo that exhibits absolute tonal consistency right across the frame, that can be examined with appropriate tools. Please add something in the photo to indicate the scale of the photographed image (perhaps a pen or coin).
Shouldn't be difficult for you to do – after all, you've done it once already with total accuracy, haven't you?
Let's see it.

After several exchanges without quibble, Apple has offered to fix it. If they can't fix it yet because there is no fix, then he has the choice to keep it until there is a fix, in which case the obvious-to-all flaw will be clearly discernible and repaired under warranty, or he can now (presumably) get a refund instead, if he's within the refund period.
What is the problem with that? It sounds to me as if the customer holds all the aces.
I have had frustrating problems with Apple hard drives, Macbook Pros and other items, but I have ALWAYS received respectful service and solutions. I have NEVER felt pressured into accepting something I did not like. Never.
I have complained here even in recent weeks about hard drive noise and have even stated that there is now some minor yellowing at the very bottom of my screen.
Yet I feel in no way under pressure to accept these things and get only positive response from Apple when telling them the problems. When I told them the yellowing was very slight but that I had concerns it might worsen over time , they told me they would send another and if one was better than the other, to choose the one I preferred and send back the other one, or return both for full refund.
What could be more reasonable than that?
Of course, if I behaved like a fourteen-year-old brat and told them I was out to bankrupt them and drag their name through the muck on a forum, they might have been less obliging.

I received my replacement i7 2T (Week 53) this morning. Thanks to the fact that Apple allowed me to keep the previous (Week 50) unit until after the new one arrived, I have been able to check them side-by-side for the last 4+ hours.

I considered the previous unit fine in all respects apart from a narrow line of yellowing right along the base of the screen. It faded into clean white at around the height of the dock, and above that area I could detect no yellowing at all. No flickers were experienced. I reported the yellowing to Apple, not to exchange the unit, but to make sure my observation was registered in a case history for any future eventuality. However, the last of the three personnel I spoke to that day suggested a replacement in any case, keeping the one I had in the meantime. A no-lose offer, so I accepted.

I have seen the yellow tinge problem so I don't deny its presence on some screens. But there is not one photo in this entire thread that is an even remotely accurate representation of the yellow tinge problem.
