And it has the Hitachi "riplock feature" superdrive.

Has there been a firmware update to correct this? I plan on ripping most of my DVD library onto this computer but I sure as heck am not going to keep a bleeding edge, i7 computer that I paid almost 2 grand for if it has a crippling feature like that which is just a stupid, STUPID bottleneck limiting the Mac's potential. I've set up a return but wanted to make sure there was no firmware fix for this already put out. I've done the Google and forum search for this but found no definitive answer so I thought I'd ask directly.

Has a few dead pixels too, but I'm running dead pixel software to try and fix them. I know this is refurbished, but its still $2000 and supposedly gone through even stricter testing than the brand new units, and I've never had a problem with flaws with refurbs before - my MacBook Pro that I'm selling was a refurb and was dead pixel free. The Hitachi riplock drive is the thing bugging me the most though.

Yeah, me too. Took nearly two hours to install Mass Effect 2 under bootcamp.

A really pointless, limiting addition by Apple. It serves little utility, yet makes life much worse for end users.

You probably got the one I wanted, but i didn't push the easy button fast enough. I would return it though. Almost 2 grand with dead pixels.....that's a no-no for me.

The pixels aren't too bad...its the fact the thing has a superdrive thats WAY slower than my mom's old Core 2 iMac when ripping that really gets me. lol. Be glad you didn't get this one, I'm waiting till the refresh and seeing what goes in those.
