Just bought my first Apple and Love it.
All is great and really fun. Though, I am having little trouble with Palm, i managed to get it synchronized with the ical and the osx address book. Thought, it seems as Palm desktop might be better since it has more features to sync with the palm, such as notes, application, files ..etc....

Could someone help me here I really don't want to use palm desktop but i do need to have files and other items such as notes (to remember birthdays and other useful information) to sync with palm handheld.....

thanks
ak

I think you have to use the Palm Desktop.
I'm not sure on that though...but I'm pretty sure...
You have iSync right? (Just making sure)

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, i am currently using isync to sync the address book and ical but still trying to find eMac software to sync other stufff instead of using palm desktop...

Welcome to the forums!

Taken straight from Apple's site, "To sync your Palm device, you must first have Palm Desktop 4.0 (or later) installed and then install iSync 1.1 Palm Conduit. In general, if your Palm OS device syncs to Palm Desktop on your Mac with HotSync, it will work with iSync."

To me, it looks like you'll need to install Palm Desktop and the Palm Conduit, then you'll be able to iSync with your Palm. I don't own a Palm so can't confirm this, but it looks like Palm Desktop will be used "in the background" and you won't have to touch it once it's installed.

I personally use iSync/iCal with my Palm, but to install applications and documents you must open HotSync manager and "install handheld files". Then just drop your stuff into the window and during the next sync it will install it after it is done with iSync. Just remember to have Palm Desktop 4.1 installed.
