Good day everyone, If anyone remembers i had a thread about getting my macbooks palm rests replaced at the local apple replacemet place, not an apple store.
Apple stores dont like my town, in fact the nearest one is 4 hours away, so i had to go to the only (yes just one) place in my city that does apple repairs.
I bring in my macbook, and leave it with them for the replacement to occur. They have it a couple days, it was actually speedy service. but then i got it back. I love the new palm rests, and the new keyboard which feels softer and is quieter then before! however, the new palm rests seem to not be flush with the bottem case. I can see gaps of black, where they aren't touching the base case. All around base i can see it, black... Then the glue or something isnt holding it down and its bubbling up... I take it back right away. (Side note: my mum picked it up for me, without telling me, i was a little shocked that they gave the laptop to someone other then me without my consent!)
So i go back and they do a bit of work, and i wasnt happy still (OCD) so the tech is like "i will look for another macbook to compare" ad reachs down and pulls up a pile of junk, like screw drivers, HDD bays, papers, and under it all is a macbook they are currently working on.
The tech puts it on the counter and clears off all the crap, and i wanted to cry. The top case was scratched more then i thought was possible. When opened the palm rests were half on and off, and it seemed like it was being junked. the tech was so rough with it in showing me i wanted to grab my stuff an leave. In fact i left as fast as i could because every time they touched my macbook the techs hands were leaving dirt marks...
Basically the more they worked on the dirtier my macbook got..
I brought it home, and pressed it all down, and worked on it a bit myself and i fixed it to where i see fit...
I just thought i would share my story. Perhaps next time you get a mac repaired anywhere but an apple store you will opt to wait and watch the repair or have them take extra care...
Anyone else experience a repair horror story such as that?
The sad part is that unless i drive 4 hours thats the only place to get my macbook repaired at.
