Well I just bought my first mac air. It's a rev a with the 80gig hard drive. I know everyone hates them but I thought this was a really good deal because it also came with a superdrive mac keyboard, magic mouse and case for $800. Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290478408968&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1001wt_1041
Now this won't be my main computer, I have a new MBP for that. This will be for the wife. She just uses iTunes, surfs the internet and plays farmville, so I think it will work for her. What do you think? Good deal or not?

The paragraph side of the ad says 120GB HDD and 3.06Ghz processor (which the Air doesn't have).

Did the seller confirm what the hdd and speed was?

Sounds like a great deal for your wife's needs, especially with all the extras. Seller has 100% positive rating too, so there shouldn't be any surprises.
Enjoy it!

Sorry, but I must ask the question: Why would you buy a 800$ Laptop to surf the internet and use itunes? I don't mean to offend you, I'm just curious :)

Other than that, have fun and good luck!

No offense taken. It was all the extras. I was going to buy a magic mouse and keyboard so that's $150 off the price. I can also sell the superdrive for about $70 if I want. So taking that into consideration it was only $580. She needed a new computer so I thought it was a pretty good deal all and all.

It's a Rev A. Ebay puts that paragraph in themselves and they are always getting the specs wrong. I sold a computer the other day and had to go back and remove that paragraph because it was wrong.

Farmville may be slow there's no Gala with flash on the rev a so YouTube etc will make it hot.

I guess we'll see when it gets here. If nothing else I'll keep all the extras and turn around and make my money back on the air. But I hope it works out. I love the way the air looks.

Well it came today. It looks great and so far it does everything she needs it to do. Youtube plays fine although fullscreen 720p did stutter a little. Farmville and games like that play great. It also doesn't seem to be getting to hot. It feels warmer than my MBP but not scorching. The only problem is that the hinge is a little loose. I called a local apple repair place and they said it was part of a recall or something and will be fixed for free. Is that true? All and all I'm very happy with it. We'll see over the next few days but for the little bit my wife will use it for I think it's perfect.

Deal is not bad. It's a Rev A though, and I avoided those like the plague when I was looking. All in all I would say it's a fair price from my experience. For reference, I bought a Rev A from here perfect condition a while back for $600 with box, but not all your accessories. I also bought a Rev C top of the line for $1k with super drive, retail leopard, and retail snow leopard with box perfect condition a month ago. THAT was a KILLER deal. So all in all, I think you did good. Nice extras.

My rev c gets pretty hot with video etc...so I am expecting yours to get even hotter!

No, not everybody hates them. Primarily one loudmouth who thinks this is his private forum. Just because it's not the computer he wants, doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it. When people don't know anything about your needs or useage, yet will pronouce the MBA to be rubbish. . . well that tells you all you need to know about that person.

Congrats on the purchase. It sounds like it's a decent enough deal and will meet your needs. And in the end, that's all that matters. I own ten laptops of various sizes (plus three ipads) and I'm perfectly happy with my first gen MBA because it fills it's intended role and my needs.

Thanks a lot. When I bought it I was a little nervous. But I've had it a few days now and not one complaint. It plays flash video and flash games just fine and It doesn't get very hot. My wife likes it too and that's most important since it's hers. I've also already decided to sell my MBP and and get the new air when, or should I say if, they update them.

You definitely got a very sweet deal.

Also got my 1st gen (64GBSSD plus SuperDrive) on eBay few weeks ago for $866. Great condition.

What's your battery cycle count ?

FYI The hinges are a weak point. If you feel any slop make sure you get it tightened up.

Is it true that apple is repairing the hinges for free? Thats what the authorized repair place told me here. But they are about thirty minutes away, so before I head out there I want to make sure they know what they're talking about.

cycle count is 148, battery condition "normal". I've been getting about two and a half to three hours of battery life.
