Got one today for my BerfDay! Pretty slick indeed. Just been watching Netflix stuff, Kids movies, go figure. But I was surprised the video looks really nice from Netflix and so far no studdering over my G Network, course my Inet cable download service is 55mb down and 5.5mb up but I thought the G wireless might cause problems from my router to the Apple TV. So far so good.

Might have to start some research on how to figure out getting rid of Cable TV service. Probably gonna take another streaming device or 2 and some more subscriptions but it'd probably still be cheaper then Cable TV. I'd keep the Cable Inet service.

maybe watch less TV?

Seriously, we watch amost no TV but have cable because SHE wants to watch Desperate Housewifes, Greys Anatomy and such when they air, not a day later (when she wants to see it which is every three weeks or so).

So for us it would be great if there was a service that allows to watch those shows at air time even if it is expensive because we still would save money.

Aside of that I'm tempted to get a ATV and netflix (and finally a flat panel TV).

An HD tv and an antenna will get you OTA local channels for free. Wouldn't that solve your problem?

Congrats on your new TV2! I'm looking forward to buying one from Amazon in the near future.

I'm surprised how very well it works, too, and I'm sure we're not the only people who've thought about dropping the regular TV subscriptions in favour of it.

Both DH and GA are on ABC. Can you put an antenna on your roof and pick them up for free? If not, you could drop down to the lowest tier cable package and watch those shows in HD using a clearQAM tuner.

I use an EyeTV Hybrid along with my iMac as a DVR, after the programs record the EyeTV software exports it to iTunes, so about an hour after it airs i can watch it on the ATV.

There is...it's called hooking up a settop antenna and getting 10-30 free TV channels (depending on your market).
