One of the items I have kept an eye on is how are developers going to handle the notch. Personally, after looking at and comparing the “X”, I decided not to get one. Still, if this is the future of the iPhone, what are we going to experience as new apps roll out.

On that note, I happened across a decent article on what developers are seeing, and a decent explanation of the limitations Apple is placing or recommending.

Check it out (ARTICLE) and share your thoughts.

Another quality article from Ars. Worth a read on a Sunday.

Apple needs to figure it out themselves still.

I tried to create a new contact from an email I received. In portrait mode the “Save” button is directly behind the signal and battery indicators and you cannot click it. Likewise the “Cancel” is behind the clock and you can’t click it.

My fix was to rotate to Landscape so the buttons were accessible.

That is the exact problem I was having with the app I’m working on. It seems to be an issue with modal views, sliding all the way to the top of the screen as normal. I could not figure out a solution, so I coded in a workaround which detects the type of phone, and if it’s an iPhone X style, I manually move the top bar down by 44 points. Annoying, but it works perfectly.

I think Apple needs to fix this.
