Hey everyone how's it going? I just ordered a refurbished iMac from the apple store just wanted to save some money. This is my first time ordering a refurbished item before and I was just wondering a few things. Whoever ordered a refurb before overall how is the condition of the computer on the outside top, bottom, etc. And also do the refurbs run like a brand new iMac with no trouble at all? Whenever someone gets a chance could you please tell me a few details? thank you very much, bye.

My 24" iMac refurb came in perfect. Can't tell that it's not brand spanking new and virginally pure. Not a scratch or a mark on the outside anywhere; the screen is gorgeous; it runs whisper-quiet; and all has been well--all manner of thing has been well. I don't know that every single one is so flawless, but the reports on this forum have generally been positive. Enjoy!

Purchased many refurbs over the years. Never had one that didn't look new. Some have worked fine continuously. Some have died repeatedly and needed repeated replacing. I'd say you are more likely to get a dud then retail, but if it is a dud, it will probably die early on. Only thing that has sucked was that when a recall was issued for an iMac issue, mine didn't qualify cause it was a Furb.

In any case, the latest experiences have been good ones.

I got mine in, all wrapped up and brand new looking...didn't turn on though. I'm getting my replacement tomorrow or Saturday.

Thanks for messaging me back what made me mad was when I saw a brand new same iMac up on ebay for way much cheaper.

My 2.2 BMB was MINT in every detail, not a single issue,0,zip,nada, none. Best computer I never had. I switched back in January 08, and bought refurb, I am so sold on refurb, my wife and daughter will be recipients of refurbed 2.4 WMB. Just can't beat em, in fact 7 of my friends, saw what they liked, and also bought refurbed BMB. Everyone was MINT in every way, worked, and are working perfectly:apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::D

So sorry about that I get mine tomorrow. Did you get yours from the free ground shipping?

Actually mine was free 2-3 day shipping. I had set 1-Click to checkout with 1 day, but instead I got 2-3 day shipping, so an Apple rep took off the charge. I hope mine ships tonight though so I'll get it tomorrow also.

I can't wait also to get mine. So overall I will be very pleased with the refurbished iMac and it will look brand new.

I can't wait to get mine either, it shipped earlier so it comes in tomorrow as well.

I was very, very pleased with its cosmetic condition. If it would've came in the retail box there's no way I would've believed it was refurbished. They do a great job making it look 100% new. You'll be very pleased.

Thanks, do you know if the 2400 XT graphics are alright I like to use iDVD a lot and watch movies etc. no gaming at all. I wonder if I load it up with ram the encoding process will be faster. I use to have a 2.8ghz with 2GB of ram and it only took an hour to encode/burn. Hopefully I won't see much of a difference.

I couldn't tell you, my iMac never displayed any picture. Just sound :(

I would say that more RAM would make the encoding process go faster, it's supposed to speed up things like that. Someone correct me if I'm wrong :p
