hey all,

I just took the plunge and purchased a 2.4ghz macbook pro for college with a silver 4gb ipod nano. have a few questions:

what is the best case, briefcase for college?

what should i purchase to go along with my new macbook pro?

what should i load onto the macbook pro for college?

thanks so much,
ipaqman

Podium Pad

Keeps laptop running cooler, and if someone spills something around your lappy, it will surround the podium pad and not the mac. This literally happened 1 day after I purchased mine (Moore's law states it's supposed to happen 1 day prior, but there was a glitch in the Matrix).

Have Fun! Oh, and Halo 1 ROCKS on the mac. It's so awesome.

1-I would advise against a briefcase since it advertises what you have inside. I would go with either a backpack case or a messenger bag.

2-An external KB and mouse would be good when your MBP is in your dorm. A notebook stand like the Griffin Elevator or mStand is good for keeping temps low and adding more usable space for a, usually, cramped desk.

3-A word processor, spreadsheet, and whatever game(s) you are interested in. I don't know what you're studying so I can't recommend anything else.

Good luck in school :)

I went with a notebook sleeve so I can just drop it in my backpack or messenger bag. You should look into purchasing iWork or Word, you'lll definitely need that. Also its a good idea to install ClamXav, as your college would most likely require you in have antivirus app installed.

i have a second power adapter for mine for its bag, its a pain in the butt to unplug the primary one when im going to be using it away from its home 50% of the time

That actually sounds like a really really good idea. I know the feeling. Very tempted by doing that myself now!!

Definately get something like Office For Mac or iWork 08 on there, (would recommend Office unfortunatley but thats the way it is!!)

I use the Tucano Neoprene case for my MBP, a decent sleeve to protect it when its in your bag but it does advertise the fact you have a Mac sometimes not a good thing!!!

Enjoy the Mac :apple:
