Mainly because of screen size envy and liking what I saw in my brother's Galaxy Note 4, I ordered an unlocked (since I have T-Mobile) Note 3 from Groupon the other day ($335 shipped). Worst-case, I have 2 weeks and can return it.

I have a Nexus 7 2013 tablet as well that I play with frequently (mainly because it supports switching between multiple users) so I am becoming a bit more familiar with the Android OS (the N7 has Lollipop on it).

But as far as a phone, I really haven't used an Android phone as a primary. Since I am so used to the iPhone for the past 7 years, I'd like to initially set it up so it's similar in use for me.

I use Google services for Gmail, contacts, and calendar which will be easy to set up. I also use iCloud calendar to share with my wife. I found an app that can sync apparently so that is covered. I use Google Hangouts with some folks and of course the main loss will be no iMessage, but that is for very very few people that don't have a phone and are only using an iPod Touch.

Are there any other key "transition" apps or settings that I should be aware of for when my Note 3 arrives? And for the possibility of switching from my iPhone 6 (not plus) to the Note 3, am I an idiot? ;) Thanks!

Is there an app to gain access to iCloud stuff? Co worker was asking as she wants to move back to Android, but that is holding her back. Info please!!

Good luck with it, should be a nice transition for you. Don't forget to turn iMessage off before you switch. ;)

Hi, here's the one I found for syncing:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.dmfs.caldav.icloud&hl=en

So regarding the iMessage thing, I just googled it as well. Does that mean it isn't very easy to move a sim card back and forth between the two? Also, then I'd imagine that would impact iMessages to my iPad and MacBook, correct?

Eh, that's not exactly what she was looking for. Thanks though.

And your question about iMessage, that is where it gets screwed up. Swapping back and forth. I don't have an iPhone so I cannot answer in depth, but everyone that I know that has one and goes to another platform, that is where the issues develop.

Scanning through my current iPhone apps, here's some of the ones that I didn't find as exactly equivalent on the Google Play store:

iMessage - no
FaceTime - no
iCloud Albums - no
AirPort Utility - no
Amazon Instant Video - no
AirPlay Mirror - no
Find my Friends - no

Google Hangouts can somewhat replace the first two, but only if those other users have it at well. I'd especially love to find an app like Find My Friends that works across both Android and iOS.
