Just ordered the 8-Core mac Pro - Memory Help!

I just ordered the Mac Pro 8-core. Here is the machine.. Excited to upgrade. While it is on it's way shipping, I was instructed not to upgrade my memory with Mac, but more cost effective using 3rd party Memory. With so many brands out there, what is the best solution to get:

2x 8GB chips 1866mhz DDR3 EEC RDIMM

Im in a similar situation. Can someone tell us if the existing memory is Unbuffered or Registered and can they be mixed? I got the base Mac Pro with 12GB of ram and wondered if I could add this module to the 4 empty slot making its 16GB
